As of January 1, 2019, the one-time allowance paid to young teachers will be raised almost three times. More exactly, this will be increased from 45,000 lei to 120,000 lei, Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Reply”.

“We will ultimately apply that Education Code provision that enables to pay one-time allowances to teachers, which are used for methodological needs – 2,000 lei for all the categories of teaching staff,” stated Monica Babuc.

According to her, this will be possible owing to the common law on pay grades, which is a revolutionary document drafted by the Ministry of Finance and which will bring about a change in the general remuneration process in Moldova. ”The common law on pay grades in the Republic of Moldova will first of all advantage the teaching staff. The rise in salaries in percentage will be significant,” stated the minister. According to her, the document will take effect on January 1, 2019.

Monica Babuc also said she would like the subjects in education institutions to be taught based on a curriculum adjusted to the realities of the day. “We want to create a curriculum that would change the approach in terms of the influence exerted on the child. By teaching the children, we want to cultivate attitudes and values so that these children become members of society, good familyists and dignified members of society who will become involved in societal affairs and will be active citizens. These are the tasks of the modern, developed national curriculum on which we work,” stated the minister.
