Monetary reserves increased during August by USD 1.73 mln

The state’s monetary fund has a rather modest evolution during August, and reached USD 640.74 mln, an increase of USD 1.73 mln during August. The reserves are increased by interests’ rates and by currencies bought by the National Bank on the internal market.
At the beginning of September the largest part of the monetary reserves were the deposits – USD 359.74 mln. Of these, foreign banks has a USD 309.83 mln share; in other commercial banks, in the International Regulation Bank and the International Monetary Fund – USD 45.58 mln.
Another part of the monetary reserves are held in bonds – USD 281 mln.
Besides monetary reserves, NBM also has an additional reserve in the IMF of USD 7.43 mln.
At present, the monetary reserves of the NBM are also used, together with funds from the state budget, to cover the international debts of Moldova.
