Moldova's press freedom ranks below Botswana and Congo

Moldova ranks 81st among 169 countries included in the annual worldwide press freedom index of the Reporters Sans Frontieres (Reporters Without Borders). Moldova was outscored by some African countries like Mauritania, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya and Congo. On the other hand, according to the ranking, Media in Moldova is freer than in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. The best scorers of the RFS press freedom index are Iceland, Norway and Estonia. The worst performances in terms of media freedom were shown by Turkmenistan and North Korea. All the EU member-countries hold one of the top-60 spots.
