As of May 1, Moldova’s Post Office will levy a tax of 10 lei for collecting parcels through post terminals. Until now the service was free. The payment could be made through the terminal and online, IPN reports.
According to the head of the Marketing and Sales Division Elena Ganchukova, the tax will be levied because this is a commercial service and the promotional period expired.
The Post Terminal is an automated system for receiving and distributing postal parcels. This consists of a multitude of protected cells from where parcels coming from all corners of the world can be collected. The parcel is kept in the post terminal for three days. If it is not collected, it is extracted from the cell and sent to the Post Terminal service from where the parcel can be taken later.
In Chisinau, there are 21 post terminals. Balti has one such terminal.
