Moldova's national team will participate between August 16 and 28 in the second edition of the Youth Olympic Games. Eleven athletes will travel to Nanjing, China, where they will represent Moldova in 6 competitions, IPN reports.
“I feel a great responsibility as this is an important competition”, canoeist Serghei Tarnovschii told the press.
The Youth Olympics for athletes aged between 14 and 18 are organized similarly to the traditional Olympics. The first summer edition took place in 2010 in Singapore. Wrestler Iulia Leorda won silver, while boxer Daniil Svaresciuc returned with a bronze medal.
