Moldova’s Ministry confirms Ambassador Lilian Darii was summoned to Russian Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration confirmed that Moldova’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation Lilian Darii was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia to be informed about the protest over the demonstration mounted in front of the Embassy of Russia in Chisinau on March 24, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry noted the authorities took all the measures stipulated in the Vienna Convention, concerning the safety of the premises of the diplomatic mission, while the legislation of the Republic of Moldova guarantees the basic human rights and freedoms. “We reiterate our call as regards the necessity of maintaining calmness and social cohesion,” runs the press release.

Moldovan Ambassador in Moscow Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday. “On March 25, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Russian side expressed strong protest in connection with the outrageous action in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau on March 24, the participants of which demonstrated insulting slogans and took unacceptable actions,” the Ministry said in a statement.

According to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the receiving state is obliged to take all appropriate steps to protect the premises of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the peace of the mission or impairment of its dignity.”
