The fact that Moldova is coming closer to the European Union will make it more attractive for Chinese investors, Deputy Minister of Trade of China Jiang Zengwei said in the Moldovan – Chinese Investment Forum that was held in Chisinau on November 14, IPN reports.

The Chinese official said that Moldova is continuously developing, while the measures taken by the Government are efficient in developing economic relations at international level. “The improvement of the cooperation relations with the CIS and the European integration process play a very important role. The Chinese investments have enormous prospects in these conditions of economic development,” he stated.

Jiang Zengwei added that the bilateral economic cooperation has developed constantly over the last few years. In 2012, trade was over US$200 million. Imports into China rose by 42%. Moldovan wine to the value of over US$5 million was exported to China. “Until now the Chinese consumers only tried the Moldovan wine, but we know that the products are of a high quality and good for health,” he stated. The Chinese people are interested in investing in agriculture and infrastructure development. The Government of China is ready to share its experience in road and bridge building.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the relations between China and Moldova are exemplary, with intense political dialogue. “We have impressive dynamics, especially in imports, but we didn’t manage to boost exports yet,” he stated.

Cris Yang, executive director of ICS Huawei Technologies SRL, said that Moldova is an important market and he wants the business to be extended into it. Huawei supplies telecommunications equipment in Moldova and satisfies about 80% of the needs of the Moldovan consumers. The Huawei equipment is used by about 2 million people in Moldova.

Under an agreement signed today, China will offer Moldova 20 million Yuan (over US$3 million) in the form of a grant for implementing economic development projects.
