The foreign financial assistance will not be a burden if Moldova insistently promotes structural reforms and ensures economic growth, economist Alexandru Fala says in the Report on Crisis Prevention that is published quarterly by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The foreign debt has increased constantly during the last years – from US$1.7 billion in 2000 to US$4.1 billion in 2008. Taking into account the foreign assistance promised by the donor community (US$2.6 billion in 2010- 2013), Moldova's foreign debt in 2014 will total US$6.3 billion. Alexandru Fala said the external debt will not constrain the national economy if the structural reforms are stepped up and the economic growth is at least 5% a year. The expert considers Moldova will have sufficient resources to repay the debt with money coming from export and budget collections, which will rise the next three years.
