Moldova’s exports have increased during seven months

Exports over the first seven months of this year rose by 29.5% compared with the corresponding period last year, to about 703.6 mln USD. Exports to the EU member states (EU-27) totalled 350.7 mln USD or by 36.1% more on January-July 2006, making up 49.8% of the total exports, as against 47.4% last year, the same period. Exports to the CIS countries increased by 17.2%, to 282.1 mln USD. They accounted for 40.1% of the total exports, as opposed to 44.3% in January-July 2006. Russia absorbed the largest part of the Moldovan exports, to the value of 123.4 mln USD or by 4.7% more than last year. Exports to Romania added up to 110 mln USD (+44.2%), to Ukraine – 81.2 mln USD (+23.2%), to Italy – 77.5 mln USD (+21.4%), to Belarus – 45.2 mln USD (+19.7%), to Germany - 44.4 mln USD (+1.8 times), to Poland – 23.6 mln USD (+1.9 times), to Kazakhstan – 21.4 mln USD (+twofold) etc. Though the deliveries of alcoholic drinks fell by 48.3%, the exports of ordinary metal and related products rose 2.5 times, of textiles and textile articles - by 23.2%, of vegetal products – by 32.3%, of machinery and equipment, electrical appliances and image and sound reproduction equipment - 1.6 fold, of animal and vegetal fats and oils -1.9 times, of mineral products - twofold, of products from stone, plaster, cement, pottery and glass – 1.8 times, of footwear, hats and umbrellas – by 34.8% etc. Imports into Moldova over January-July this year added up to 1.9 bln USD or by 37.2% more compared with the corresponding period last year. Imports from the EU member states (EU-27) in the first seven months of this year amounted to 873.0 mln USD, making up 45.8% of the total imports, as against 43.8% last year. They increased by 43.7% compared with January-July 2006. Imports from the CIS states rose by 27% to 694.5 mln USD. They accounted for 36.5% of the total imports, as opposed to 39.4% in January-July 2006. The considerable discrepancy in exports and imports in the first seven months of this year resulted in a balance of trade deficit of about 1.2 bln USD. It is by 42.1% or 355.4 mln USD higher compared with the corresponding period 2006. Moldova over January-July had a negative trade balance of 522.3 mln USD with the EU member states, and of 412.4 mln USD with the CIS countries.
