Moldova’s entry at the Junior Eurovision Song, Denis Midone, needs €10,000 for participation in the contest, composer and artistic director of the project Marian Starcea told the press, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Marian Starcea, after numerous requests sent to the state bodies were rejected, several local artists organized a fundraising concert for Denis Midone’s participation in Junior Eurovision. The collected money, about 30,000 lei, is far from enough. About €10,000 from own resources have been invested in rehearsals, shooting of the video, costumes and other necessary things for participation in the contest.
“For a successful performance, the young singer would need €20,000. Even so, we assure you that Moldova will participate in the contest, even if on the stage will be only the singer, Denis Midone, without vocalists, scenography and dancers. We want to present ourselves with dignity before Europe and the whole world, but unfortunately for the children, they must appear as Cinderellas”, said Marian Starcea.
Ten year old Denis Midone was chosen winner of the national selection on October 10 with the song “Toate vor fi”, composed by Marian Starcea on lyrics by Ramila Popovici-Paraschiv.
Moldova’s representative at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take the stage on December 1 in Amsterdam, 11th out of 12 participants. This is Moldova’s third participation in the contest. According to the regulation, only 18 European countries can participate.
