The development partners of Moldova transmitted an information document with 30 policy notes concerning the development of the country, including of the energy sector, justice and police reform, economy and banking as well as of civil society, to Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici. The officials voiced hope that the Government will implement the initiated reforms as fast as possible so as to make progress on the path to the EU, IPN reports.

“We know the challenges and hope that the Government will have the opportunity to implement all the recommendations. You can further count on the support of Moldova’s friends,” said the World Bank Country Director for Moldova Alexander Kremer.

UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gercheva assured that the UN family will provide continuous support to all the players involved in the implementation of the commenced reforms. “Essential progress was made in implementing the agenda concerning human rights. We know the challenges you face and thus have a common commitment to reduce the level of poverty and to eliminate the discrepancies in the urban and rural areas and to also generate workplaces that could reduce brain drain and to help cope with the challenges related to the national security,” she stated.

The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said that after last autumn’s parliamentary elections, the EU wants to see real progress in doing reforms and fighting corruption. “The partnership between Moldova and the EU is aimed at transformation and refers to transition to another stage and the country’s modernization. The goal of this partnership is to offer the Moldovan people a better life,” he stated.

For his part, Chiril Gaburici thanked the development partners for the constant support provided to Moldova, saying he will analyze the recommendations of the officials and will have discussions with the ministers and with those in charge of the relevant matters so as to work out a plan of action and to start to implement it as soon as possible.
