The goal of the protests in front of prison 8 from Bender is to make the administration to undertake measures that may lead to destabilizing the situation in the town, reads a statement of the Moldovan Delegation in the Join Control Commission (JCC), Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The circumstances allow us to suppose that premeditated actions are undertaken to escalate the tension in this area with an enhanced regime of security, a real danger is being created so that the peace-keepers lose the control over the situation in the Security Area. Under these circumstances, all the responsibility for the possible aggravation of the situation in Bender rests with the Transnistrian delegation in the JCC,” reads the statement.
The Moldovan Delegation calls on the delegations of Russia, of the Transnistrian area of Moldova, on the representatives of Ukraine and of the OSCE in the JCC to use all the mechanisms available for the peace-keeping mission in the area to insure the peace and and stability within the territory under the control of the joint peace-keeping forces.
President of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights from Moldova Stefan Uratu opines picketing the prison from Bender is a profitable affair “through which they try to get a grasp of the prison's assets.” “Also the JCC, which should insure the access in the Transnistrian area, showed itself partisan when it forbid to remove the truck blocking the access to the prison,” he said.
The protesters want the jail removed out of the town, claiming it holds inmates suffering from tuberculosis.
