MP Corina Fusu, the vice president of the Liberal Party, says Moldova's accession to the Russia-centered Eurasian Union is not worth considering, since entering customs arrangements other than with the EU might jeopardize Moldova's European integration, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We have achieved some progress with our European partners. A potential accession of Moldova to the Eurasian zone could put a break on our EU accession efforts. True, we have a free trade agreement with the CIS, but this is not going to affect negotiations on a (Deep and Comprehensive) Free Trade Agreement with the EU”, stated Corina Fusu, in her capacity as co-chairperson of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, at a press conference dedicated to the 14th meeting of the Committee. MEP Monica Macovei, Committee's co-chair on behalf of the EU, noted that Moldova was the only country that made so much progress towards signing a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. “Moldova has achieved a great deal of progress, yet the political instability isn't really helpful in moving negotiations forward. We have suggested Moldovan politicians to gather together in a room and discuss without interruption, one, two or maybe even three days, until they reach comprise and put an end to the political crisis in your country”, said Monica Macovei. The 14th meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee took place in Chisinau during November 25-26 on the initiative of Monica Macovei.
