Geta Burlacu, Moldova’s representative to Eurovision 2008, has launched today a video to back the competing song “A Century of Love”. The freshly released video brings into focus four couples that are going to stick together no matter what, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the author, Corina Caireac, the video as well as the song emphasizes on the eternal values of the human condition, speaking about love between a man and a woman, love to children and parents, love of life. A piece of art doesn’t have to be explicit, it should be an opportunity for meditation, said Corina Caireac. So, the language used in the video is symbolical and metaphorical. The central image is a circular staircase that represents the displays of love specific to different periods of life: childhood, adolescence, youth, and maturity. The chromatic choice is built on the classic white-and-black combination, used to differentiate a certain period of life, alternating from bad to good times, and vice versa. The authors also use heavily the orange color, which according to Geta, means freedom. The video featured professional actors, as well as amateurs, including Geta’s little daughter Elvira and students of the theater school. The shooting, done by “DiametralFilm” at a place 30 km far from Chisinau, lasted more than 24 hours. The costs of the video amounted to $12,000. Part of this money was given by the Moldovan Government, which allocated a total of 320,000 lei for Geta’s promotion. The singer has just completed touring Romania, with Israel and Germany to follow shortly.
