The Moldovans who work legally in Spain will soon benefit from pensions and other social benefits. A technical meeting that involved representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and of the National House of Social Insurance was held at the National Social Security Institute in Madrid on February 7. This centered on the signing of a bilateral agreement on social security, IPN reports.
According to the National House of Social Insurance, the interlocutors discussed the Moldovan and Spanish legislation on pensions and the method of providing benefits in case of work accidents and professional diseases to insured citizens of the two states.
The sides agreed to open negotiations on a draft agreement on social security for protecting the interests of the citizens who worked legally on the territory of both of the states, regardless of the place of residence.
Currently, the National House of Social Insurance applies 11 agreements on social security signed with Bulgaria, Portugal, Romania, Luxemburg, Austria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Poland, Hungary and Lithuania. The agreement with Germany is the 12th one and will take effect on March 1, 2019. An agreement was also signed with Turkey, but this will come into force when the document is ratified by both of the parties.
