Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the Moldovans abroad who will take part in the September 5 referendum and the November elections will not be exposed to the risk of being expelled if they work there illegally, Info-Prim Neo reports. The voters there will have to show only the Moldovan identity card, the Premier said in the context of assertions that the authorities of foreign countries could use the Moldovan polls to identify and expel illegal works. “The people will go to the polling places only with the Moldovan identity card. Nobody will ask them to present other documents. I’m sure that our people will participate in the referendum and particularly in the November elections,” Vlad Filat said. Asked if he betrayed the principles of the governing alliance, as the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu stated, Filat said such statements must by accompanied by arguments. “After we analyzed the results of the July 2009 elections, we reached an agreement whose ultimate objective was the election of the head of state in Parliament. Now we have new elections and the outcome will be different so that those agreements are no more valid,” the Premier said. Vlad Filat also said that all those who want to run in elections should aim to persuade the people to vote for them and carry out as many activities as possible. Their goal shouldn’t be to convince the possible opponents not to run, he stressed.
