From January 1, the Moldovans will be able to bring into the country goods to the value of up to €300 without paying import taxes, up from €200 this year, IPN reports.

Another amendment approved by the Government envisions the exemption of the farmers who will import tractors from paying VAT. “We are making effort to remove the discrepancy existing on the market. The small farmers import tractors and pay VAT, while the machinery brought into the country within different projects is not subject to this tax. From now on, the farmers will enjoy the same conditions as the large producers,” said Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu.

The reduced VAT rate of 8% on primary agricultural products and sugar beet will be restored. The term for paying the VAT and customs duties will be extended to 180 days of the day the raw material, accessories, primary packing and articles used to make goods intended exclusively for export are imported.

Anatol Arapu said the approved amendments form part of the Government’s actions aimed at simplifying the fiscal and customs procedures, stimulating investments in the national economy and ensuring a favorable framework for business development.
