The Moldovans who choose Turkey as a tourist destination can no longer get a visa when arriving in the airport. They need to apply for a visa online (e-visa) and get it before leaving, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Tourism Agency.

The e-visa can be obtained by accessing https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/. More information is available on Turkish Foreign Ministry’s website http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa

Contacted by IPN, head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Ana Taban said the Turkish side hasn’t yet abolished the visa regime for Moldovans even if a relevant agreement was signed. Currently, the Moldovans pay US$40 for an ordinary visa for Turkey and US$30 for an e-visa.

It should be noted that the agreement on the reciprocal abolition of visas was signed in November 2012. Moldova’s Parliament ratified it last April. On January 24, the Turkish Parliament also ratified the accord. The document was to be promulgated by the president of Turkey within 15 days, but this didn’t happen.
