The citizens of Moldova haven’t yet realized the value of their votes, considers politologist Olga Nicolenco, who, together with representatives of civil society, called on the people to take part in the November 30 elections and to vote for the pro-European parties.
In a news conference at IPN, Olga Nicolenco said that in the lifetime the people can choose the government 10-12 times. “We see the people are indifferent to the rare possibility of voting they enjoy. If at 18 we are told that we will have only ten shirts until the end of life, we will be very careful with them,” she stated.
The politologist noted that the course chosen by the people is also important. The choice for the European Union means peace and welfare, while the choice for the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union is equal to war and death. Olga Nicolenco said she was unable to relish the election campaign because the intruders and those who promote the course to the East make the people choose not between politicians and between doctrines and electoral platforms, but between peace and war.
Viorel Cibotaru, director of the European Institute for Political Studies in Moldova, said that every citizen will decide the country’s future by their votes. Given that there is a war in the region and there are forces that want to prevent the country from following the path to development, it is the people who must make sure that Moldova does not have the same fate as Ukraine. Cibotaru called on the people to choose the parties of the right on November 30.
On November 26, civic society made a call to the people to go to the polls on November 30 and to vote for Moldova’s European future. The call was also supported by the secretary general of the National NGO Council Antonita Fonari, executive director of the Institute of Public Policy Arcadie Barbarosie, director of the Resource Center for Human Rights Sergiu Ostaf, director of the Journalistic Investigations Center Cornelia Cozonac, head of the National Youth Center of Moldova Doru Curosu, executive director of the Women’s Political Club “50x50” Ecaterina Mardarovici, member of the Council for the Prevention of Discrimination and Ensuring of Equality Andrei Brighidin, and others
