The Government of France will financially support the Moldovans who stay legally in France and will decide to return to Moldova. Those who stay illegally will also be assisted. The French side will provide assistance in starting businesses, finding a job, obtaining training, etc. The young people who study in France will be supported so that they return home and put into practice the accumulated knowledge. The measures to reintegrate the Moldovans who returned from France are defined in a framework agreement that was signed by representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection and of the French Office of Immigration and Integration on October 2, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Anastasia Ocheretnyi told a news conference that three types of assistance will be provided. The first is assistance for social reintegration and family reunification that will be offered for a period of at most six months. This will be used to pay for a part of the rent, to outfit the house, to pay tuition for children, etc. The French side will offer by €400 per adult and €300 per child a month.

The second type is employment assistance that will be offered during a year. The French side will cover up to 50% of the gross salary stipulated in the work contract and will ensure the professional formation of employees, if necessary.

The third type is assistance in starting a business, working out of a feasibility study, technical formation and in designing the startup project. The business will be monitored during a year so as to establish its durability.

French Office of Immigration and Integration director general Didier Leschi said France decided to increase the assistance provided for the return of Moldovan citizens home and their reintegration and this was possible for two reasons. First, France is a country with economic difficulties and not all the persons who come to France can find a job there. Secondly, France wants Moldova to benefit from the knowledge of its people and to build a better future for them, in the best possible conditions. “France is interested in the economic development of Moldova, in its commercial development, in the transfer of skills and we are thus very glad that this agreement was signed,” he stated.

The French official also said that the sum provided for a person can rise to 8,000, but not in cash, but in investment. If someone wants to purchase a tractor for business, the French side will pay for the machinery. The given mechanism will enable to create about 100 businesses a year.

According to official reports, over 3,000 Moldovans stay legally in France.
