Moldovans this November borrowed more money than last November

The new loans provided this November came to 4.353,9 billion lei, an increase of 13% on last November. The loans repayable in two to five years remained the most popular ones with a share of almost 43% of the total loans released, IPN reports.

The National Bank of Moldova said that over 64% of the provided loans were released in national currency and added up to 2.799,6 billion lei. Almost 33% of the loans were released in foreign currency (equivalent of 432.8m lei), while near 3% were loans attached to the exchange rate of the currency (121.5m lei).

The loans in national currency consisted of loans provided to nonfinancial commercial organizations (76.3%) and of loans granted to private individuals (20.4%).

Compared with the corresponding period last year, the nominal weighted average rate on loans released in national currency rose by 5.65 percentage points, on loans released in foreign currency – by 0.62 percentage points, while on loans attached to the exchange rate of the currency – by 1.23 percentage points.

The consumer loans represented 79.3% of all the loans and were provided at an average rate of 15.43% (-0.27 percentage points on a month before and +6.05 percentage points on November 2021).
