Increased scholarships will be offered to 2,800 high school students, 5,700 university students, 850 master’s degree candidates, resident doctors and cadets, as well as to 200 doctor’s degree candidates. Thus scholarships for high school and university students will reach EUR 65, for master’s degree candidates and resident doctors EUR 75, for doctor’s degree candidates EUR 85. The Romanian Education Minister also decided to increase the scholarships for pupils and students from Ukraine, with Romanian ethnicity; Romanian citizens having their residence abroad, and also for Romanian citizens who study in state educational institutions in Romania. Three post graduate scholarships for 2006-2007, for a 10-month term, worth EUR 900 monthly, will be offered for researches in humanistic and social sciences conducted by Romanian ethnics from abroad. Excellence scholarships will be awarded thanks to a partnership protocol recently signed by Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs – the Department for Romanians from Abroad, and the New Europe Foundation – New Europe College.
