The total amount spent by Moldovans on vacations this year exceeds 540 million euro. This includes all types of trips abroad, including those on their own and additional expenses. The findings are made by economist Veaceslav Ionita, who says that by the end of the year the number of people going on vacation through travel agencies will exceed 400 thousand, IPN reports.
The expert said that Moldovans continue to prove that they love traveling, with some even managing three to four getaways a year.
"A holiday organized through an agency costs on average 560 euro/person, plus additional expenses. What's more, more than 460,000 Moldovans prefer to organize their trips themselves, choosing to go on their own," explains Veaceslav Ionita.
According to him, the war in Ukraine has reduced the number of trips to the country, which used to be a favorite destination in both summer and winter. However, Moldovans have found alternatives and continue to travel to international destinations.
"For comparison, this amount is equivalent to Moldova's wine exports for 5 years. Vacations are not just a moment of relaxation, but also a proof that Moldovans know how to invest in experiences, memories and personal well-being", Veaceslav Ionita said.
