The population’s monthly incomes in the third quarter of this year were 1,475.6 lei on average per person, while the consumption expenses – 1,612.8 lei, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the National Bureau of Statistics. In real terms, the people’s incomes rose by 2.9%, while the spending was by 1.3% higher compared with the third quarter of last year. The salary and the remittances from abroad are the main sources of income. The persons living in urban areas earn by 424.6 lei a month more than those living in rural areas. The rural population is more dependent on remittances from abroad than the urban one. According to statistical data, 41.3% of the expenses go on food. As the incomes, the expenses are different in the rural and urban areas. The people in villages spend more money on food, while the townspeople – on public utilities and recreational activities. The urban population’s consumption expenses represented 1886.3 lei per person, by 474.4 lei or 30% more than in rural areas.
