Two Moldovan women athletes, Daniela Ciobanu and Alisa Martinov, have qualified for the final of the IFT International Tennis Tournament in Varna, Bulgaria, which offers prizes totaling US$10,000. Another two Moldovan tennis players, Adriana Sosnovschi and Melisa Martinov, reached only the second qualifying round, IPN reports.
According to the club Femina Chisinau, of which Daniela Ciobanu forms part, in the last qualifying round the athlete beat Romania’s Oana Gavrila 6-3, 6-4, but lost to Vivian Zlatanova of Bulgaria 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the final.
Alisa Martinov went through to the final after defeating Luana Daus of Romania 6-1, 6-0 and qualified for the second main round of the final after winning against Serbia’s Elizabeta Bauer 1-6, 7-6, 6-3.
The IFT International Tennis Tournament in Varna is taking place on September 23-29.
