According to data provided by the Romanian Labour Department, cited by the Romanian press, Moldovans are placed third in what concerns the number of workers who are officially employed in Romania. According to sources representing the Department, 5,302 labour authorizations have been issued till September 1, 771 of which have been offered to Moldovan citizens, which represents 14.5% from the total. The main origin countries of foreign workers in Romania are Turkey – more than 26% and China – 15.2%. Foreign workers are mainly employed in such fields like trade – 30.98%, production – 28.97% and services – 20.87%, followed by constrictions and banking. Of the total number of active authorizations 29.9% are issued for top employees. The wages paid to foreigners range from 305 euro (83%) and 18.500 euro per month. Foreigners who work on the Romania’s territory are obliged to come to the Office for work force migration in a 30-day term, where they must submit the copy of the individual work contract and the copies of the certificates issued by authorities, regardless of whether they are obliged to obtain work authorization or not. According to unofficial data, a much greater number of Moldovans work in Romania, especially those who hold the citizenship of both states. Earlier, the Romanian press has stated that Romania starts to face a work force crisis, and one of the solutions is to attract foreign workers, including those from Moldova.
