Italy extended the state of emergency declared at end-January until October 15 this year and by ten days the travel restrictions imposed earlier until July 31, including the restrictions that ban entry to Italy to persons who visited or transited the Republic of Moldova during the past 14 days, IPN reports.

According to Italy’s Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, the Moldovan citizens can now enter Italy only if they have a permit of stay for Italy or for another EU member state (including their family members: husband or wife, parents, children under 21 and dependent persons because of disability).

In a telephone conversation on July 29, President Igor Dodon requested his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella to allow the Moldovan citizens to enter Italy if they present COVID-19 test certificates and pledge to do the test again after entering Italy.
