Moldovans inform themselves from TV mostly

For most Moldovans (76%) the television is the the most important source of information. 82% of citizens watch TV daily, or almost daily, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from a poll called “Vox Populi – 2008”. According to the pollsters, the higher the level of education the longer the time dedicated to watching TV. So, 66% of the people finishing only secondary school watch the TV daily, while 91% of the the people with higher education do it. The age is also crucial. 83-90% of the young and middle-age people watch the TV daily, while the people older than 60 years watch it rarer, only 65% of them do it daily. The women watch the TV almost as long as men do. The welfare state is influencing much the frequency of watching the TV. The poorer do it rarer (76% -- daily,) while 84% of the richer watch the TV daily. 94% of the well-to-do watch the TV daily. Radio ranks the second in informing the people, as half of the interviewees say they listen to it daily. The newspapers and period press come the third and are read by 13%. Family is considered an important source of information, as 34% of respondents opted for it. It's followed by friends and neighbors (29%), work colleagues (14%), the Internet (13%). The number of the people using rumors as a source of information is 8%. The survey has been carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers from Moldova on 1,586 adult respondents from 88 localities, excluding the Transnistrian area, with a margin of 2.6%.
