Considering the latest events in Syria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced that as a result of negotiations with Turkish authorities, Moldovan citizens can leave Syria by transiting the Turkish territory, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Ministry recommends Moldovans to leave Syria through the land border passes between Turkey and Syria in Yayladağı (north-west of Syria) and Akçakale (center-north) and via the international airports of Turkey.
Moldovan citizens that hold usual passports for trips abroad, will be able to obtain a transit visa when entering Turkey at the border passes between Turkey and Syria, if their passports are still valid and they aren’t forbid to enter Turkey. Visas will be issued for 30 days free of charge.
Moldovans without a valid passport can obtain an emergency passport at the Moldovan Embassy in Ankara or at the General Consulship in Istanbul. If Moldovan citizens present themselves at the Turkish border without IDs and the Moldovan Embassy isn’t able to issue an emergency passport, they will be allowed to transit Turkish territory.
If they experience financial or other difficulties, the Moldovan citizens are recommended to ask for help at the mission of the International Organization for Migration in Damascus or in Chisinau.
