The Moldovans in Paris showed their support for Dorin Chirtoaca in the second round of the mayoral elections of June 28 by an event similar to a flashmob meeting, IPN reports, quoting the Paris Liberal Club.
The event took place in the evening of June 24 on the Trocadero square, in front of the Eiffel Tower. The participants carried placards with the words “We want a pro-European mayor”, “We want Europe at home”, “Let’s go to vote!”, “Vote for Dorin Chirtoaca”, “European capital or Russian province?” and discussed the latest developments in Moldova.
Vasile Calmatui, who heads the Paris Liberal Club, said: “By our mobilization, we ask our nationals who settled abroad not to remain indifferent and to transmit the same message to the relatives and friends who remained in Moldova”.
Serghei Demidov, a Romanian from Chernautsi region, said the Romanians everywhere are near and support Dorin Chirtoaca.
Gheorghe Tighinean, a member of the Liberal Party from Sadova, Calarasi, said: “We wish Dorin Chirtoaca to be strong and go on. He should take no step backward and should take the opinions of his supporters, including of those from the diaspora, into account”.
Alexandru Levitski, secretary of the LaParis Association, said: “The current vote for Dorin Chirtoaca does not mean a vote for the Liberal Party or for Mihai Ghimpu. It is a vote for us all, for our European future. I wish Dorin Chirtoaca courage and success”.
Ion Cobzaru, a Bessarabian young man who settled in Paris, said: “We want Dorin Chirtoaca to win the next term in office so that he builds a European capital with developed infrastructure”.
