The Moldovan people who go to Italy for academic or professional purposes or want to continue their studies in the Italian Republic need a Value Statement validated in Italian, issued by the Embassy of Italy in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Embassy. The statement can be obtained only after the Ministry of Education of Moldova confirms the authenticity of the diplomas and the Ministry of Justice signs them. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, employees of the Italian Embassy in Moldova informed that the following documents are needed in order to obtain a Value Statement: the application, the power of attorney if necessary, the copy of the identity card, notice of the change of name if it was changed, the original of the diploma signed by the Ministry of Justice, the Xerox copy of the translated and legalized diploma, the table of grades in the original, the copy of the original and a Xerox copy of the translated, legalized and signed table. The applicants also need conformation from the Ministry of Education that the person studies and the translated, legalized and signed analytical program. According to the Embassy, the Value Statement is issued within seven days of the submission day and is free of charge if it is needed for studies. If the applicant wants to work in Italy, it costs €31. Thus, the diplomas issued by the Moldovan education institutions are recognized by the Italian authorities only if they are accompanied by the Value Statement issued exclusively by the Italian Embassy in Chisinau. The Moldovan authorities are now making effort to simplify the procedure for recognizing the Moldovan diplomas abroad. Recently, they sent a draft intergovernmental agreement to the Italian authorities, which includes a number of concessions for the citizens of the two states. The possibility of facilitating the recognition of the Moldovan diplomas will be also discussed during the next round of Moldovan-Italian consular consultations that will take place in Rome.
