Moldovans ‘fond’ of repair works

Over 1/3 of the Moldovans consider that the cosmetic repair works in apartments must be done once or twice a year. At the same time, almost 50% of the Moldovans consider that once or twice a year cosmetic repair works must be done in private houses, shows an opinion poll carried out by the company Magenta Consulting. According to the respondents, extensive repair works must be executed once in 9-15 years, IPN reports.

The cosmetic repair works in apartments is an annual activity that is more popular among housewives and persons from rural areas, with a monthly income of 10,000 to 15,000 lei.

Those who think that repair works in private houses must be done once or twice a year are divorced persons, with secondary education, equally women and men.

The study reveals that when doing repair works, about 75% of the respondents paint the ceiling and put wallpaper o by themselves, 76% paint the walls, while 69% paint the radiators without the assistance of specialists. A much lower percentage can install sanitary facilities and put terracotta floor tiles by themselves.

The assistance of specialists when putting wallpaper and painting the ceiling is used mainly by unmarried persons, persons who run own businesses and those on monthly incomes of over 15,000 lei per family.

The poll covered a sample of 1,129 respondents. The margin of sampling error is +/-3%. The data were collected between September 22 and October 8, 2015.
