Moldovans and foreign investors are rather encouraged to invest and develop their businesses elsewhere, because in Moldova laws don’t work, stated Alexei Repede, president of the Association of Moldovan Businesspersons from Everywhere (AOAMP), during a press conference.
Alexei Repede says that laws not working or working selectively is also a reason why there are very rich people and very poor people in Moldova, without a middle class in between.
Driven by the “stringent need to consolidate support for Moldovans everywhere”, AOAMP has launched a project called Diaspora Business Connection to provide counseling and networking opportunities to businesspersons or aspiring entrepreneurs from Moldovan communities abroad.
The project involves creating a platform to develop a business community of the Moldovan diaspora. “We will organize networking events in the selected countries, provide information tailored to the needs of participants, facilitate interactions and diaspora connections, promote business partnerships and identify potential investment projects”, said Olga Postovanu, AOAMP project coordinator.
The project has no implementation deadline or planned budget. Expenses are covered by business people who wanted to “lend a helping hand to peers”.
The initiative will be launched internationally in Rome on June 15, after which the project will reach out to Moldovan communities in Spain, France, Germany and elsewhere.
