In the first half of this year, fewer constructions were initiated in Moldova than in the same period last year. The total volume of constructions in comparable prices decreased by 8%, revealed the National Bureau of Statistics. In particular, the volume of current maintenance and repair works decreased by 22.6%, but also that of new construction works by 13.3%.
Meanwhile, the volume of capital repair/renovation works and other construction works (demolition, land development prior to construction, etc.) increased in the analyzed period by 26.2% and by 1.1%, respectively, compared to January-June 2022.
On construction objects, in January-June 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, there were decreases (in comparable prices) in the volume of construction works carried out on residential buildings (-22.9%) and engineering constructions (- 7.1%). At the same time, the volume of construction works performed on non-residential buildings increased in the analyzed period by 6.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
