Persons born after 1974 risk to be deprived of their pensions upon reaching retirement age. The statement was made by PSRM MP Vladimir Odnostalco, on the “Glavnîi vopros” show on NTV Moldova, IPN reports.
Socialist MP Vladimir Odnostalco claims the pension program has no future. The politician has pointed out that part of the citizens aged 55 and older return to the country after having worked abroad for 10-12 years, and in a few years the state will have to integrate them into the retirement system, which will strain the budget. “Their first problem is an insufficient employment record, and the second would be that no one wants to hire them,” said the MP.
According to him, there is a risk that persons born after 1974 be deprived of their pensions. “There is such an opinion, yet I hope it will not happen. These are our citizens,” stated Vladimir Odnostalco. In his opinion, youth today have no guarantee of a pension, so they prefer to avoid paying full taxes.
Meanwhile, economic expert Veaceslav Ioniță claims that every three employees from the real sector support two state employees and five retirees. According to him, over one hundred thousand people work illegally, without paying any taxes to the state. He believes the state should incentivize these people to pay taxes, to increase the pension fund. According to him, the state has already found two solutions – it has increased the minimum salary threshold, and has raised the retirement age.
Furthermore, the expert states that, for a decent living, the pension of a person should constitute 42% of the average salary, whereas in Moldova it is only 25%.
