The 11 Moldovans who had been arrested in Egypt returned home. At the airport in Chisinau, they have been met by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It wasn't easy to bring them home. We will help these persons so that they feel safe and under state protection,” said Vlad Filat. The costs for repatriating the 11 Moldovans were covered by the executive.
An investigation was launched into human trafficking, the Government says in a communique. According to the Premier, more information about this case will be presented in the near future.
The foreign press reported earlier that the Moldovans asked several Bedouins to help them get to Israel in exchange for US$1,000. Later, the Bedouins asked a double sum for their services and the two camps started to fight. Allegedly, the Moldovans killed one person.
