A group of associations of Moldovans who settled abroad ask founding a Ministry of the Diaspora that will be responsible for efficiently managing migration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In an appeal to President Nicolae Timofti and the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration, the associations request creating a ministry that will protect the Moldovans abroad, will draft and implement policies aimed at creating favorable conditions for the return of the emigrants and their reintegration into Moldovan society.
They also ask adopting a National Migration Strategy that would include, among others, a series of definite measures designed to stop the mass exodus of Moldovans, and accelerating the implementation of electronic voting and instituting voting by correspondence for the Moldovans who are outside the country as this will contribute to a significant increase in the number of voters abroad and will enable the Moldovan emigrants to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The signatory associations are from Canada, France, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Ireland, Greece, Sweden, Germany, Lithuania, and the UK.
