An international spring school “Youth against Corruption”, which involves 26 students from Moldova and Ukraine, has opened in Yalta, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a press release from the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM).
According to the organizers, the Yalta anti-corruption school takes place as the need to address corruption comes into sharper focus.
“Raising awareness of corruption with the younger generation, at grassroots level, is one of the most important ways of addressing the problem. It is an invaluable forum where vital issues can be addressed and opinions shared, by the people who are the future teachers, doctors, and politicians of the two countries. EUBAM is committed to facilitating cooperation with and between academic communities and the “Youth against Corruption” schools are a central part of that,” Head of EUBAM Udo Burkholder said during the opening ceremony.
The spring school program will include practical and theoretical sessions on anti-corruption-related issues such as tools for corruption prevention, investigation, principals of good governance, ethics, as well as actual case studies from EU Member States, Ukraine and Moldova.
The “Youth against Corruption” series is among several anti-corruption initiatives supported by EUBAM. At central and regional levels in Moldova and Ukraine, the Mission supports the border-management services in the design and implementation of their anti-corruption action plans and preventative mechanisms.
The spring school “Youth against Corruption” is an initiative organised jointly by EUBAM, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and the Centre for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime of Moldova. The week-long training program is the third such school to be organised for Ukrainian and Moldovan students.
