A Moldovan woman aged 48, who was a passenger of the Chisinau – Milan flight, was caught with over €25,000 and more than US$9,000 at the Chisinau International Airport in the evening of July 25, IPN reports.
According to the Border Police, €25,180 and US$9,450 were found in the woman’s baggage as a result of scanning. The woman said that she didn’t know the procedure for taking money into and out of Moldova.
The Customs Service took over the case to determine all the circumstances.
In accordance with the current regulations, the sums larger than the equivalent of €10,000 are mandatorily declared. Those who do not obey the rule are fined and can have the difference confiscated.
