Poland's capital, Warsaw, is hosting the Moldovan Wine Week, bringing together about 200 specialized trade companies, wine retailing network, restaurants and wine experts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, which is one of the organizers of the event, the number of the participants from Moldova has doubled from last year: 29 firms are displaying their production this year. Most of the companies are participating for the first time, aiming to penetrate the Polish wine market.
Poland is the largest destination country in Europe for Moldovan wines: in 5 months of 2010 exports amounted to $3 million. Nevertheless, Agriculture Minister Valeriu Cosarciuc says there are still a lot of unexploited opportunities, declaring that exports should double in the foreseeable future.
“It would also be a good thing to learn from our Polish friends how to faster run the path toward the European Union. The Poles are willing to help us through direct involvement and cooperation, and concrete support”, added the minister.
The Moldovan Wine Week is held in the heart of Warsaw and people are invited over during the weekend to have a taste and buy Moldovan wines.
The event is organized by the Ministry together with the Moldovan Embassy in Poland.
