The Moldovan Weightlifting Federation will choose five Moldovan weightlifters who will compete in the 2016 Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro. This right was won after the national weightlifting team of Moldova ranked 11th at this year’s World Championship of Houston, the U.S., IPN reports.

Alexandru Dudoglo (85 kg class) had the best performance at the competition, ranking ninth. Iurie Bulat, who competed in the same category, finished 13th. The other team members ranked as follows: Alexandru Spac (77 kg) - 11th, Artiom Pipa (77 kg) – 13th, Serghei Cechir (69 kg) – 15th, brothers Iurie and Ghenadie Dudoglo (both up to 62 kg class) – 18th and, respectively, 31st, and Oleg Sarghi (56 kg) – 24th.

The best six results were taken into account when setting the final position of the team in the general rankings.

The rankings included 58 countries, 24 of which won the right to delegate athletes to take part in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
