Moldova will not be able to take part in the World Weightlifting Championships 2017 and the European Weightlifting Championships 2018. The International Weightlifting Federation suspended Moldova’s squad for a year for doping, alongside the national teams of another eight states, IPN reports.
The decision was taken in an extraordinary meeting held in Bucharest, it is said on the website of the International Weightlifting Federation.
Thus, nine countries were punished for having three or more cases of doping at the Olympic Games of 2008 and 2012. In the case of Moldova, the dope test was failed by Alexandru Dudoglo, Anatolie Ciricu and Cristina Iovu.
The Moldovan weightlifters will also be unable to compete in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games of Buenos Aires.
