Moldovan Ukrainians point at national minorities’ rights related problems

The representatives of the Ukrainian community from Moldova informed the state’s authorities about the practical problems in the area of national minorities’ rights protection, inclusively in education, instructing young specialists, publishing Ukrainian newspapers. They also underlined the necessity of a thoroughly study of the state language in the Russian schools and the lacunas concerning it.
According to a press release of the Parliament, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, these themes were tackled at the meeting of the speaker Marian Lupu with the Ukrainian community. The Ukrainian representatives appreciated the present legal frame.
The collocutors agreed that at the next meeting, the representatives of the Ukrainian community will formulate some concrete problems to be discussed, inclusively with the responsible decision-making authorities.
Marian Lupu declared that this meeting is a step of the initiative of the Parliament to cooperate with the civil society, emphasizing the fact that this kind of meetings must take place all the time and must not be only formal discussions.
At present, the Ukrainian community in the Republic of Moldova has over 600 thousand representatives and 11 territorial organizations. 55 Ukrainian schools and 63 artistic communities work in the country.
