The Moldovan traditional bread was highly appreciated and was awarded the first place at the “art-class” category as part of the Festival of Culinary Art that was held from 8 to 11 November in Kiev. The national team of Moldova participated for the first time over the past 20 years in festival held abroad, head of the Association of Culinary Art (ACA), Semion Boran, told Info-Prim Neo agency. According to the source, the Moldovan traditional bread was prepared by three ACA members that represented all the kinds of bread for the religious feasts in Moldova. As many as 47 sorts of bread and knot-shaped bread for the feasts were exhibited, including 32 – for winter holydays: Christmas, Saint Basil, and Epiphany. The whole exhibition of bread was presented to the “Peciorscaia Lavra” Monastery. Elena Cretu took the bronze medal at “Confectioners” category for the prepared desserts and “Moldova” cake, while Ecaterina Bivol took the diploma in “Original Dishes” category. According to Boran, the fact that Moldova professionals were appreciated at the Festival in Kiev, among 12 national teams from 8 countries, is an argument that Moldovan cooks are good specialists and that the Association contributes to the promotion of Moldovan culinary art, as well as to Moldova’s image. ACA recently became the member of the World Association of Cooks Societies (WACS). The Association was included in the WACS informational system and will have access to all the news in the field at international level. Moldovan cooks will also have the possibility to participate in all the culinary actions organized by WACS at regional, European and international level. The next international Festival the ACA will attend, will be held in February in Istanbul, Turkey. The Association intends also to participate in 2007 in the “Global Master Chef” World Championship in Slovenia, and in 2008 – in World Culinary Olympics. The Association of Culinary Art has been unfolding its activity for over one year, being the only one of this type in Moldova.
