The Social-Democratic Party from Romania (PSD) has endorsed the Moldovan judge Tudor Pantaru to run for Romanian Parliament on November 30. “Tudor Pantaru has a rich international career. Is appreciated for his professionalism in Romania and abroad. We decided to endorse his candidacy hoping to win the elections in the college for Eastern Europe and Asia and to have a deputy from Moldova in the Romanian Parliament,” secretary general of the party, Europarliamentarian Titus Corlatean has told Info-Prim Neo. The new Romanian electoral law provides, for the first time, that people from outside can run for a parliamentary seat. The constituency for Romanians from abroad includes 4 uninominal colleges for the Lower Chamber and two colleges for the Senate, delimited by geographic area. Other candidates endorsed by PSD are Marian Popescu – for the EU area college, Marian Dan Mocanu – for Europe- Asia, as senator, and Armand Schor – as deputy for Africa and Middle East. Earlier, the Bucharest press wrote the Romanian PD-L may offer Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to run for it, taking into account the very good relationships the Romanian president Traian Basescu has with the Moldovan capital's mayor. The PNL from Romania may put up a candidate close to the Moldovan Liberals.
