Radu Albot has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Challenger tournament “Tunis Open” that has a total prize fund of US$125,000. In the second round, Albot beat the Tunisian public’s favorite Malek Jaziri 6-1, 6-4. He will compete for a place in the semifinals against Romania’s Adrian Ungur.
The 23-year-old sportsman does well in the doubles too. Together with Benjamin Becker of Germany, he has qualified for the second round.
Moldovan tennis players Maxim Dubarenko and Andrei Ciumac also scored victories in the Futures tournaments taking place in Antalya, Turkey, and Shymkent, Kazakhstan. In the first round, Dubarenko won against Belgium’s Olaf de Weerdt 6-2, 6-3 and will play against Italian Damiano di Ienno in the second round. Ciumac already went through to the quarterfinals after defeating Pawel Cias of Poland 7-5, 6-3. His next opponent is Pavel Filin from Belarus.
