The draw for the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League was held in Nyon on June 18. Milsami Orhei will meet Romania’s vice champion FCSB. The “red eagles” play the first leg in Giurgiu on July 11, while the second leg at home one week later, IPN reports.
Petrocub will play the Cypriot team AEK Larnaca, which last season competed in the UEFA Europa League groups. The first encounter will take place in Cyprus on July 11, while the second in Chisinau on July 18.
“AEK is a team with traditions. Last year the Cypriots contended in the groups of the UEFA Europa League and ranked third. This was not the best draw for us. We must work to show a good game. It will be a good experience for us,” Petrocub coach Lilian Popescu told the press.
The third Moldovan team that will compete in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, Speranţa Nisporeni, will face Neftci Baku.
In the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions League, Moldova will be again represented by Sheriff. The team from Tiraspol will meet FC Saburtalo Tbilisi in the first round. The first leg will be played in Tiraspol on July 9 or 10, while the second in Tbilisi on July 16 or 17.
