The winners of national Olympiads in the Turkish language will be able to represent Moldova’s culture at the 16 international Olympiads that will take place in Turkey, alongside Olympiad winners from 160 countries. In the Language and Culture Festival of Moldova, held by the Moldova-Turkish lyceums of Moldova, the winners of the Olympiad in the Romanian language and literature were awarded for the first time, IPN reports.
The event took place at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” last weekend. There were presented dances and songs from different countries and poetry recitals in the Romanian and Turkish languages.
The festival started to be organized last September. As a result of the cooperation between the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and the four theoretical lyceums “Orizont” of Moldova, there was set up a commission of specialists that assessed the participants in the poetry, dance and traditional music recitals. Prizes of over 13,000 lei were awarded to the winners.
“The Romanian culture was included in the festival for the first time this year, at the suggestion of the theoretical lyceums “Orizont”. We have cooperated with them for five years. They are very receptive and active, but the fact that they love arts is the most important thing,” said Valentina Cujba, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport.
Turkish Ambassador in Chisinau Mehmet Selim Kartal said that Moldova and Turkey have a common past. He wished peace to both of the countries. “We have a culture that unites our states. I’m sure that if all our children continue to be educated so nicely, our future will be very bright,” stated the diplomat.
Attending the event, the Premier’s adviser on education, culture and sport Leonid Bujor thanked the organizers and the participants on behalf of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. “The relations between Moldova and Turkey are friendly. The two countries respect each other and consider themselves friends,” he said.
The Language and Culture Festival of Moldova is organized based on the contest “Moldova is a land of song and nostalgia”.
