Moldovan students to be trained in sustainable energy

National coordinators from 15 countries and international leaders of the SPARE Project (School Project for Application of Resources and Energy) conducted by Norges NaturVernforbund (Norway) will meet in Chisinau on 13-15 April to discuss issues related to the education of the young generation in sustainable energy development. International coordinators of the Norges NaturVernforbund, Ungvild Lorentsen and Dag Hotsteid, are participating in the meeting. The meeting is organised by the “Gutta-Club" Centre, national coordinator of SPARE project, one of which objectives is to train school children in sustainable development of Moldova. The project that is being successfully carried out in schools and other institutions in Moldova helps the young people to study the nowadays energy problems and problems of using natural resources reasonably, giving a lot of practical recommendations to save energy at home and at school. The Norwegian Society for Nature Protection is the initiator and coordinator of the Project. The SPARE programme started to work in Moldova in 2002-2003 school year. Eighty schools and other education institutions in Moldova are being involved in the project in 2006-2007 school year. The Project was approved and supported by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and Ministry of Education and Youth of Moldova.
