Moldovan students who are studying in Romania have the opportunity to work in the USA. The first on-line Job Fair for the Romanian students in the USA starts on Monday, February 12. Ten thousand applicants may obtain a contract with a minimum wage of USD 1,000. According to Romanian media, the Work and Travel Fair has begun on Monday at 11.00 am, while the organisers expect to recruit over 10,000 students. The number of jobs for which one may apply this year is 3-fold greater than last year. There are offered service sector jobs, paid from 6 to 10 dollars per hour. Romanian students will work as cooks, cashiers, store associates, assistant managers, maids or dishwashers. Some employers will even grant bonuses or provide housing for reasonable charges. This way the students will enjoy the opportunity to come back home after a three-month work in the USA with sums ranging from USD 3,000 to USD 5,000. Still, visa, transport and commission associated expenses exceed USD 1,500. The applicants shall be students or full-time masters’ degree students, to have good knowledge of English (intermediate level) and good marks. This year the Student Adventure also organises the Work and Travel Programme for all the students who want to work for the summer holiday period in the USA. This time, the Job Fair is organised on the Internet and will be open for five days, on the following site http://www.studentadventure.ro/targ-de-joburi. The students who will be selected will work from June 15 to October 1, 2007, for one of the US companies. Rail Road Pass Hotel and Nevada Casino are ranging among the most important employers. Here the students may earn from 6.15 and 7.93 dollars per hour. The Super 8 Motel Network will offer 7.5 dollars. Other companies are Dunkin Donuts, Georgia, with 7-8 USD/h, or chain of shops WAWA Inc., with 10 USD/h.
